Our roller shade fabrics are specially made for shades and replicate old-fashioned varnish with a more eco-sensitive sizing. In fact, our natural fabric shades are recommended for people with vinyl or other chemical sensitivities. We strongly suggest ordering the roller shade fabric brochure (free of charge).

The darker the fabric color, the more light is blocked from entering rooms. Back in the day, our forest green fabric was often used for this purpose. Rooms were kept dark when not in use to protect furniture and fabrics from the sun and to keep them cooler in summer. Some of our fabrics are available with a light-blocking coating that helps shade the room. This light-blocking coating on our roller shades is whitew with the exception of our linen/cotton light blocking - creme fabric and will show on the roller if the shade is back rolled.

Classic Cotton: Traditional flat cotton surface. The white works very well with our oyster linen and with oatmeal peasant linen. Ecru coordinates with ecru peasant linen, which is the color of a typical file folder. Antique gold is a color seen in many vintage shades. We do not stencil on the green but it is a classic period shade color (think of old fashioned offices and green eye shades), often used for black-out. Use it alone or with natural linen curtains and valances. Dove coordinates with enzyme washed linen.

Muslin & Linen/Cotton: Muslin is off white with the slight texture of an unbleached, natural colored fabric. It coordinates with all our natural linens. Linen/Cotton has more texture (we call it slub) and looks great with natural linen fabrics or by itself.
